/ First connected health service in Malaysia launched
Private tertiary hospital Subang Jaya Medical Centre has launched what could be the first connected health service in Malaysia.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
The 400-bed hospital joint venture by Ramsay Health Care Australia and Sime Darby Malaysia seeks to "revolutionise" healthcare delivery through its latest service called Connected Care.
Based on a press release, it offers services in six areas of care, which initially include:
- HomeConnect - nursing service at home;
- TeleConnect - telemedicine service for medical inquiries and clinic appointments; and
- SeniorConnect - remote monitoring service for senior patients.
Three more services under Connected Care will be rolled out soon:
- GPConnect - a service that connects GPs and consultant cardiologists on matters of heart-related conditions;
- ICUConnect - remote monitoring service by ICU nurses for patients at home; and
- HospitalConnect - post-discharge monitoring service.
THE LARGER TREND
Connected Care represents a major milestone in SJMC's goal of building a comprehensive, end-to-end healthcare system. Like the rest of Malaysian providers, the hospital is leveraging digital technologies to meet patients' demands for virtual and remote care post-pandemic. Rival hospitals like Sunway Medical Center and IHH Healthcare already launched their respective telemedicine services when the pandemic started.
Meanwhile, SJMC also announced its collaboration with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation to become sandbox partners for health technology companies under the MRANTI HealthTech Hub programme.
SJMC was also recently shortlisted as one of the four finalists for the flagship medical tourism hospital programme by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council. The said programme aims to promote the country's medical tourism while demonstrating excellence in healthcare delivery.
ON THE RECORD
"We want to shift from patients to people, from healthcare to health, from hospital to home. With the launch of Connected Care, we bring a transformative revolution to healthcare delivery, empowering patients with seamless access to professional and affordable care in the comfort of their own homes," SJMC CEO Bryan Lin said.
