The belief that stress is a contributing factor to premature greying holds more than a sliver of truth, said Ms Tan. Indeed,&nbsp;<a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31969699/" target="_blank">research</a>&nbsp;showed that stress can accelerate the greying process by affecting the stem cells responsible for regenerating pigment. Underlying medical conditions may also be responsible for greying strands

Besides these, Ms Tan highlighted that smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and frequent late nights can lead to premature greying. “Poor nutrition and a deficiency in Vitamin B12, a nutrient that aids in melanin production, may also play a role,” she added.

Neglecting hair hygiene is another factor. “Some people avoid washing their hair every day as they are worried about hair loss,” Ms Tan said. “But in Singapore’s hot and humid climate, not making this a daily habit can result in clogged hair follicles and affect hair health.”

Frequent chemical treatments, including dyeing, bleaching and re-bonding, can also further damage hair roots. “The problem is exacerbated when people start colouring their hair regularly the moment they spot a few grey hairs,” she said.&nbsp;

Practising good hair hygiene, reducing stress levels and avoiding harsh chemical treatments are some of the measures you can implement to combat premature greying, said Ms Tan. The survey was commissioned by Herbalife and conducted via&nbsp;One Poll&nbsp;in&nbsp;Australia,&nbsp;Indonesia,&nbsp;Malaysia,&nbsp;Philippines,&nbsp;Singapore,&nbsp;Taiwan&nbsp;and&nbsp;Vietnam&nbsp;among 5,500 respondents.

More than half (56%) said their current financial situation makes it difficult to pay for necessities like food, utilities, and medicine. Seven in 10 (72%) admitted that they were equally, if not more worried, about money now than a year ago. In addition, 56% said that they have no idea what their financial future looks like, and for some, this is having a negative effect on their mental health.

When asked about their side jobs, selling products on e-commerce websites; content creation; and writing, editing or proofreading were the most common —&nbsp;while direct sales, otherwise known as network marketing, came in as the fourth most common side hustle. APAC respondents with a source of additional income said, on average, they'd need to earn between&nbsp;US$300-$700&nbsp;per month to live comfortably.

"The increased cost of food, housing and natural resources have affected communities globally, causing people to search for supplemental income streams. The direct selling opportunity has existed for more than a century - it provides a way to ease people's financial situation and, more importantly, a support system to achieve one's goals," said&nbsp;Stephen Conchie, Herbalife's regional president of&nbsp;Asia Pacific&nbsp;and&nbsp;China.

"Whilst having a side job can provide more financial flexibility, a sense of security and the means to make ends meet, it's important for individuals to choose a side job that's right for them," said Conchie. The survey also revealed the differences in how Millennials and Gen Zs viewed side job compared to other age groups:

- Millennials were the most likely to have a side job (63%), followed by Gen Zs (59%), Gen X (50%) and Baby Boomers (45%)

- Top reasons to start a side job for Millennials were to deal with rising costs of living (47%), to be less reliant on a single source of income (46%) and to have a financial safety net (43%)

- Top reasons to start a side job for Gen Zs were to have a disposable income (43%), to be less reliant on a single source of income (41%) and to deal with rising costs of living (40%)

On average, those with a side job commit an average of about eight hours per week to that side hustle. However, that time can vary: 29% dedicate 3–5 hours a week to their side job, while 22% devote 6–10 hours per week.

Singapore's representative (private sector) and Chair of Sustainable Development in Agriculture and Fishery Sectors (PPFS WG1) in APEC Policy Partnership on Food presented KosmodeHealth's valorisation of food processing waste into functional foods as an example of how waste resources can be repurposed for human nutrition during the recent APEC Senior Official Meeting (SOM 1) in Palm Springs, USA.

Over the last few months, the company has increased its capacity at its facility at Thailand Science Park (TSP), in Pathumthani, Thailand. This metro Bangkok location is where Austrianova Thailand has its state-of-the-art GMP and ISO9001:2015 qualified production suites and R&amp;D labs. The TSP facility focuses on Austrianova's Cell-in-a-Box® cell encapsulation technology platform for protection of human and animal cells from immune rejection and clearance when implanted in the body, as well as for long-term storage in the frozen state. Besides working together with partners and clients who use the Cell-in-a-Box® technology, the facility also produces cell banks and other cell therapy related products.

Austrianova Singapore focuses on the company's Bac-in-a-Box®  encapsulation technology for the protection of bacteria and yeast cells. This technology allows bacteria and yeast to be (i) stored at room temperature without appreciable loss in viability and (ii) protected from the harmful, sterilizing effects of stomach acid. Bac-in-a-Box® encapsulation is used in diverse applications such as animal feed optimisation, cosmeceuticals for skin health, and human and animal probiotics, as well as in the modification of the microbiome by selective and efficient delivery of bacteria to treat dysbiosis of the gastric tract.&nbsp;Austrianova Singapore is also gearing up to expand its facility in Singapore for pilot scale production of Bac-in-a-Box® based bacterial and yeast products.
