ITB Asia 2024 is one of Asia’s leading tourism business exhibitions, scheduled for 2024. This event serves as a vital platform for connecting tourism industry players, including hotels, tourism destinations, travel agencies, airlines, and other tourism service providers. ITB Asia spans a wide range of sectors, from leisure tourism and MICE to tourism technology.

Couplet Art might sound unfamiliar to some people. Therefore, we will reveal and take a look at what’s interesting about this art.

A couplet is a pair of lines in poetry that usually has set tones in it. It is usually incorporates with Chinese calligraphy that is written out using brush and ink. Those compositions combine the beauty of written words with an aesthetic visual of an artwork.

This is an example of the couplet art. It was created by an Indonesian-Chinese Calligrapher, Hidajat Purnama (born circa 1941). Alongside being a businessman, Hidajat Purnama or Fang Fu Jie (方福捷) is a poet &amp; calligrapher. The couplet (讀書 寫字種花草, 聽雨觀雲品酒茶。) have been quite popular in the calligraphy community since 2022. “It represents the writer’s daily life in his retirement age. It is a humble expression yet deep with philosophical reflections that resonate with many other poets or calligraphers. Hence, it’s frequent use as a calligraphy material,” said Rin Fang, Purnama’s daughter.

At first, some people in the community couldn’t find the original writer of the poetry. Then, there was speculating information about the wonderful couplet art by Mr. Hidajat Purnama. Some of them (in the community) were mistakenly thought that it was written by ancient poets from either the Song or Tang Dynasty.


The writer found out that his couplet widely used when he saw his couplet was rewritten by his friend on Facebook who is also a calligraphy enthusiast. Then, he also found it appeared on other platforms such as YouTube and shared videos. 

He began to search for his own poetry on Google and the results showed that his couplets were being shared and became topics. It is beyond what he expected. “We were so happy and entertained to know that his couplet got accepted and used as material by&nbsp;Mandarin Calligraphers in another country. And, it’s such an honor for him as a writer from Indonesia.” said Rin Fang.

Hidajat Purnama had been interested in classical Chinese literature since he was young. His daughter, Rin Fang revealed that her father also likes to write poems &amp; prose. Mr. Purnama likes to share his artwork starting on a local daily. As a writer, He also participated in international-scale calligraphy events, became the Chairman of the Association of Calligraphy and Chinese Painting in Semarang, and has received multiple awards locally and internationally.

For him, as a writer of couplets, the aesthetic of writing a couplet is not only putting down deep-meaning words, but it has to be written paired. “Every word on a couplet should have the same components on the right and the left line. If the first word on the left line is a verb, then the first word on the right line should be a verb as well. Then the number of words and adjectives of the sentences should be the same, but the tone should be different from one another,” explained his daughter, Rin Fang. There are some regulations on writing a couplet that require art and extensive vocabulary knowledge. However, this is the reason of Mr. Purnama got interested in making couplets.

Currently, Mr. Purnama has been enjoying his retirement with a simple life. He still shares his couplet works but only on his personal Facebook account.

Singapore – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) continues to encourage the promotion of Urban Tourism and Digital Nomad Island in the Thousand Islands to foreign tourists. The two tourist attractions in the Thousand Islands are Jakarta's leading tourist destinations.

Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Andhika Permata, said that the real steps taken by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in promoting these leading tourist destinations were by participating in various tourism exhibitions abroad. One of them was at the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) Travel Fair 2024 exhibition at Singapore Expo Hall 4 &amp;; 5A on March 1-3, 2024.

DKI Jakarta is one of seven provinces in Indonesia that participate in this annual event. Occupying the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion Booth, as many as 26 Indonesian tourism industry players consisting of the Provinces of North Sumatra, Riau Islands, Banten, DKI Jakarta, East Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, and Bali offer a variety of the best tourist destinations in the country.

"Participation in NATAS 2024 is the right activity target. Moreover, the target achievement of foreign tourists in 2024 is 9.5 to 14.3 million visits and tourists from Singapore occupy the 2nd position as one of the contributors to foreign tourists to Indonesia (Inbound)," said Andhika Permata in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday (20/4/2024).

Head of Marketing and Attractions of DKI Jakarta Disparekraf, Sherly Yuliana explained that the main focus of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government participating in the event was to attract tourists by interacting directly with the participation of other countries participating in NATAS activities. This will strengthen and expand the understanding of Jakarta's tourism excellence in the world.

"Tourism exhibitions such as NATAS are the right moment for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to continue to promote Jakarta in international events, especially in Southeast Asia. Many tourist destinations are worthy of promotion in the event such as Pulau Seribu and as a destination for Meeting, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE)," said Sherly Yuliana, Head of Marketing and Attractions of DKI Jakarta Disparekraf.

has been long awaited since 1996, so we will prepare for this event
carefully," said the President of ITS Indonesia, Mr. William P. Sabandar.
The
theme for this upcoming
forum is
'Transformation Towards a Sustainable and Intelligent Urban Mobility' is
targeted to receive 10,000 participants from various countries, including
America and Europe.

Intelligent
Transport System (ITS) is a non-profit organisation set up jointly between
industry, academia, government agencies, and communities in order to encourage
development initiatives and the use of intelligent transport systems in order
to provide a safe and convenient transportation ecosystem. The 19th
ITS Asia Pacific Forum, will be held on May 28–30, 2024, in the Jakarta
Convention Centre (JCC).
The upcoming forum will discuss various issues related
to transportation, such as air pollution, traffic jams, safety, and city
development.

Secretary
General of ITS Asia-Pacific and President of ITS Japan, Mr. Akio Yamamoto,
expressed his impressions to Jakarta in front of the media. “It always feels
energetic every time I come to Jakarta. There are so many young people here
that make me excited,” he said to the media. Mr. Yamamoto is also giving his
impressions for
the venue that has been chosen by
ITS Indonesia crew and staff for The 19th
ITS Asia-Pacific Forum. He hopes that there will be many participants who
attend and participated
in the forum. However, he revealed he was anxious about
the forum that will be implemented in Indonesia. “But, after I came here
(Jakarta) and I met so many great people handling this project, I believe it
would go well.” Said Mr. Yamamoto. He added that by seeing ITS Indonesia’s

In the upcoming forum of ITS Asia-Pacific in Jakarta,
Mr. William P. Sabandar revealed there will be several interesting activities
that participants could participate in: the ministerial round table, reading
the commitment letter to support sustainable and intelligent transport (Jakarta
Declaration), special interest session with the academy, policymakers, and
students about the newest and hot topic regarding transportation, an exhibition,
product demonstration, and also technical tour of the evolution of transportation
in Jakarta.

The General Secretary of ITS Asia-Pacific, Mr.
Yamamoto, showed his support for Indonesia in holding the biggest ITS forum in
Asia-Pacific. "Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian country that has the
opportunity to host the ITS Asia-Pacific forum; if this forum is well
organised, there will be an opportunity for Indonesia to become the Leader of
ITS in the Southeast Asia Region," he said. Mr. Yamamoto said, ITS will
contribute to creating a sustainable transportation system and providing
solutions to traffic jams. Apart from that, he also hopes that there will be
the development of transportation with carbon neutrality and disaster relief,
especially in Indonesia.

In the context of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) development, ITS
will be used as the development mode for Indonesia's new capital city,
Nusantara (IKN). ITS Asia-Pacific hopes that the future plan of Indonesia’s new
capital city will include transportation planning and this topic certainly
added to the forum of the 19th ITS Asia-Pacific Forum in Jakarta

ITS Asia Pacific Forum, will be held on May 28–30, 2024, in the Jakarta
Convention Centre (JCC).
The upcoming forum will discuss various issues related
to transportation, such as air pollution, traffic jams, safety, and city
development.Secretary
General of ITS Asia-Pacific and President of ITS Japan, Mr. Akio Yamamoto,
expressed his impressions to Jakarta in front of the media. “It always feels
energetic every time I come to Jakarta. There are so many young people here
that make me excited,” he said to the media. Mr. Yamamoto is also giving his
impressions for
the venue that has been chosen by
ITS Indonesia crew and staff for The 19th
ITS Asia-Pacific Forum. He hopes that there will be many participants who
attend and participated
in the forum. However, he revealed he was anxious about
the forum that will be implemented in Indonesia. “But, after I came here
(Jakarta) and I met so many great people handling this project, I believe it
would go well.” Said Mr. Yamamoto. He added that by seeing ITS Indonesia’s
presentation, he could conclude that ITS Indonesia already understood about the issues that would be
discuss in the forum later.In the upcoming forum of ITS Asia-Pacific in Jakarta,
Mr. William P. Sabandar revealed there will be several interesting activities
that participants could participate in: the ministerial round table, reading
the commitment letter to support sustainable and intelligent transport (Jakarta
Declaration), special interest session with the academy, policymakers, and
students about the newest and hot topic regarding transportation, an exhibition,
product demonstration, and also technical tour of the evolution of transportation
in Jakarta.The General Secretary of ITS Asia-Pacific, Mr.
Yamamoto, showed his support for Indonesia in holding the biggest ITS forum in
Asia-Pacific. "Indonesia is the only Southeast Asian country that has the
opportunity to host the ITS Asia-Pacific forum; if this forum is well
organised, there will be an opportunity for Indonesia to become the Leader of
ITS in the Southeast Asia Region," he said. Mr. Yamamoto said, ITS will
contribute to creating a sustainable transportation system and providing
solutions to traffic jams. Apart from that, he also hopes that there will be
the development of transportation with carbon neutrality and disaster relief,
especially in Indonesia.In the context of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) development, ITS
will be used as the development mode for Indonesia's new capital city,
Nusantara (IKN). ITS Asia-Pacific hopes that the future plan of Indonesia’s new
capital city will include transportation planning and this topic certainly
added to the forum of the 19th ITS Asia-Pacific Forum in Jakarta
