SINGAPORE,&nbsp;May 10, 2023 -&nbsp;Earlier this year, Microsoft Corp. introduced Microsoft 365 Copilot, which will bring powerful new generative AI capabilities to apps millions of people use every day like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and more. The company has now announced it is expanding access to the Microsoft 365 Copilot preview and introducing new features. The 2023 Work Trend Index surveyed 31,000 people across industries in 31 countries including 14 Asia Pacific markets* as well as trillions of signals from emails, meetings, and chats across Microsoft 365, plus labor trends on LinkedIn. The data shows that the pace of work has accelerated faster than humans can keep up, and it's impacting innovation. Next-generation AI will lift the weight of work. Organizations that move first to embrace AI will break the cycle — increasing creativity and productivity for everyone.

The report shares three key insights for business leaders as they look to understand and responsibly adopt AI for their organizations:

1. Digital debt is costing us innovation:&nbsp;

We're all carrying digital debt. The volume of data, emails and chats has outpaced our ability to process it all. There is an opportunity to make our existing communications more productive. Every minute spent managing this digital debt is a minute not spent on creative work. 72% of people in&nbsp;Asia Pacific&nbsp;say they don't have enough time and energy to get their work done, and those people are 3x more likely to say they struggled with being innovative. Of the time spent in Microsoft 365, the average person spends 57% communicating and only 43% creating. And the #1 productivity disruption is inefficient meetings.&nbsp;&nbsp;

2. There's a new AI-employee alliance:&nbsp;

For employees, the promise of relief outweighs job loss fears and managers are looking to empower employees with AI, not replace. While 58% of respondents in&nbsp;Asia Pacific&nbsp;say they're worried AI will replace their jobs, even more – 78% – would delegate as much work as possible to AI in order to lessen their workloads. In&nbsp;Asia Pacific, 3 in 4 people would be comfortable using AI not just for administrative tasks but also analytical work and creative aspects of their role. Meanwhile, leaders are 1.9x more likely to say that AI would be most valuable in their workplace by boosting productivity rather than cutting headcount.&nbsp;

3. Every employee needs AI aptitude:

Every employee, not just AI experts, will need new core competencies such as prompt engineering in their day to day. 85% of leaders in&nbsp;Asia Pacific&nbsp;anticipate employees will need new skills in the AI era. And 71% of people in&nbsp;Asia Pacific&nbsp;say currently they don't have the right capabilities to get their work done. This new, in-demand and AI-centric skillset will have ripple effects across everything from resumes to job postings.

To empower businesses in the AI era, Microsoft is also introducing the Microsoft 365 Copilot Early Access Program with an initial wave of 600 enterprise customers worldwide in an invitation-only paid preview program. In addition, the following new capabilities will be added to Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft Viva:

By integrating&nbsp;DALL-E, OpenAI's image generator, into Copilot in PowerPoint, users will be able to ask Copilot to create custom images to support their content.

Copilot in Outlook&nbsp;will offer coaching tips and suggestions on clarity, sentiment and tone to help users write more effective emails and communicate more confidently.

Copilot in OneNote&nbsp;will use prompts to draft plans, generate ideas, create lists and organize information to help customers find what they need easily.

Copilot in Viva Learning&nbsp;will use a natural language chat interface to help users create a personalized learning journey including designing upskilling paths, discovering relevant learning resources and scheduling time for assigned trainings.

To help every customer get AI-ready, Microsoft is also introducing the&nbsp;Semantic Index for Copilot,&nbsp;a new capability we're starting to roll out to all Microsoft 365 E3 and E5 customers.

SINGAPORE,&nbsp;April 28, 2023 - Microsoft is initiating new partnerships under its Ready4Cybersecurity program in&nbsp;Asia&nbsp;to improve access to cybersecurity skills and careers for the historically and systemically underrepresented with a focus on young women. &nbsp;Into its second year, Ready4Cybersecurity is committing to skill and certify 100,000 young women and underrepresented youths in cybersecurity by 2025, enhancing opportunities for employment in cybersecurity, filling the talent gap, and building a diverse cybersecurity workforce.

According to Microsoft's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/business/microsoft-digital-defense-report-2022" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Digital Defense Report</a>, the volume of password attacks has risen to an estimated 921 attacks every second in 2022 – a 74% increase in just one year. Cyberattacks often have devastating impacts – the average cost of a cyber breach has reached&nbsp;$4.35 million. This has led to an increased demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals in the region.

To bridge the talent and skills divide, Microsoft's Ready4Cybersecurity program, which is part of its global Cybersecurity Skilling Initiative, is specifically designed and curated to create alternative pathways to empower underrepresented youths that aspire to enter the cybersecurity industry.

There are a projected&nbsp;<a href="https://cybersecurityventures.com/jobs/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">3.5 million cybersecurity jobs</a>&nbsp;to be filled globally in 2025, with a 350% increase in demand for people with cybersecurity skills over an eight-year period.

Specifically, the opportunity for women to work in cybersecurity is huge, given that women make up only&nbsp;<a href="https://cybersecurityventures.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Women-In-Cybersecurity-2022-Report-Final.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">25% of the cybersecurity workforce globally</a>. Through public-private partnerships, Ready4Cybersecurity will provide access to industry-recognized cybersecurity foundational and intermediate skills and certification to traditionally excluded populations to help them qualify for open roles – with 75% of individuals trained to be women. &nbsp;

Since the launch of the Ready4Cybersecurity campaign in 2022, Microsoft has trained over 19,800 individuals from underserved communities, providing up to 18,300 cyberskilling initiatives. In the second year of the campaign, Microsoft will continue to work with its partners to skill and certify young women and underrepresented youths in cybersecurity to drive positive impact.

To achieve its commitments, Microsoft is taking a holistic approach to create a more diverse and inclusive cybersecurity workforce:

Currently in testing with select commercial customers, Copilot combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with business data and the Microsoft 365 apps, to unleash creativity, unlock productivity and up level skills.

Customers will experience Microsoft 365 Copilot in two ways

Microsoft 365 Copilot isn't just a better way of doing the same things. It's an entirely new way of working. Copilot will work alongside Microsoft 365 customers in two ways:

First, it is embedded in the Microsoft 365 apps people use every day — Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and more.The company also announced an entirely new experience: Business Chat. Business Chat works across the LLM, the Microsoft 365 apps, and a customer's calendar, emails, chats, documents, meetings and contacts to do things that people weren't able to do before. With natural language prompts like "tell my team how we updated the product strategy," Business Chat will generate a status update based on the morning's meetings, emails and chat threads.

With Copilot, the customer is always in control. Customers decide what to keep, modify or discard. With these new tools, people can be more creative in Word, more analytical in Excel, more expressive in PowerPoint, more productive in Outlook and more collaborative in Teams.
