The Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) developed a new productivity-related module to strengthen students' knowledge in achieving the government's agenda to increase the nation's productivity.

The new module is a collaboration between MPC and the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). A chapter related to productivity has been included as one of the learning modules for final-semester students at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

"In the Malaysian context, the issues faced by the industry, such as the talent produced by higher institutions not ready to meet the needs of the industry, the lack of multi-skilled workforce, and the competitive global market can only mean one thing: industry and academic institutions need to work together in producing highly skilled and productive graduates," said MPC Director, Saliza Saari (pic) at the Productive Mindset Program: Productivity and Innovation Exposition for Smart Manufacturing Research Institute, College of Engineering, UiTM.

Deputy vice chancellor, Prof Dr Hamidah Mohd Saman explained that the collaboration paves the way for UiTM, specifically in Lean Smart Manufacturing in supporting the nation create 4.0 ready graduates with the holistic cooperation between the College of Engineering, Smart Manufacturing Research Institute and MPC.

The productivity and innovation expo is organised by MPC together with the Smart Manufacturing Research Institute, School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA College of Engineering. 

It featured presentations by 65 students from the elective final year course: World-Class Manufacturing from UiTM Shah Alam School of Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of MPC, Noor Azlina Mohd Salleh (Head of Course), and Norliana Mohd Abbas.

The expo also recognised Noor Azlina as Productivity Champion (Leader) for contributing to productivity improvement initiatives with local and global industries.

At the same time Norliana was recognised as Productivity Champion (Practitioner) while 65 students of the World Class Manufacturing elective final year course received the Productivity Champion recognition under the Talent category.
