/ Want To Go Meatless While Having Your Coffee? Starbucks Goes Green With Plant-Based Meat
Green Rebel is an Indonesian start-up brand that sells plant-based meat alternatives for Asian consumers in search of a healthier flexitarian diet. A flexitarian or semi-vegetarian diet (SVD) is a combination of the words “flexible” and “vegetarian”. It’s a diet that is primarily vegetarian with the occasional inclusion of meat or fish.
Green Rebel products are making waves in Asia Pacific countries like Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Starbucks Malaysia is going green with new plant-based sandwiches
This month, Green Rebel partners with Starbucks Malaysia to launch a special meatless menu featuring their Beefless Rendang and Chick’n Fillet.
Collaborating with Starbucks, they will be serving the meatless beef in their Philly Steak Rendang Sandwich and the meatless chicken in their Black Pepper Chic-ken Sandwich.
You can enjoy the plant-based diet with two other selections at Starbucks which are the Palak Paneer Pie and Vegan Mocha Coconut Cake.
These items are available at all 364 Starbucks outlets nationwide.
“In order to maximise the success of plant-based protein adoption in new markets, we always emphasise the importance of flavour localisation,” says Max Mandias, Green Rebel co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer.
"Our partnership with Starbucks Malaysia is exciting because it is a celebration of the culinary diversity of the Asian region, where beloved local flavours take centre stage."
