/ RAYDEL HDL Research Institute: Leading the World in HDL Science
Beyond just “levels,” RAYDEL’s leading researchers in South Korea are redefining heart health by focusing on the “quality” of HDL, often called good cholesterol, a 30 year scientific journey from the lab to your doorstep.
SINGAPORE, [March 16, 2026] Global healthcare brand RAYDEL is proud to spotlight the scientific engine behind its success: the RAYDEL HDL Research Institute (Korea). Led by Director Dr. Kyung-Hyun Cho, who has been recognized as one of the “Top 1% Researchers Worldwide,” the institute is advancing cardiovascular science by focusing on the quality of High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL).
For decades, HDL, commonly known as “good cholesterol”, has been associated with maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. However, researchers at the RAYDEL HDL Research Institute have emphasized a different perspective: HDL quality over quantity.
At the institute, scientists use advanced analytical technologies, including a transmission electron microscope, to closely examine HDL particles. This sophisticated imaging technology allows researchers to observe the shape, size, and structural characteristics of HDL particles at the microscopic level.
Such detailed analysis provides deeper scientific insight beyond standard cholesterol measurements, helping researchers better understand the functional characteristics of HDL.
“A high HDL number is like having a large fleet of garbage trucks; if the trucks don’t work properly, the city stays dirty,” says the Director of the RAYDEL HDL Research Institute. “Our research focuses on making those ‘trucks’, your HDL particles, stronger, faster, and more efficient.”
The institute’s efforts have contributed to the global success of RAYDEL Policosanol 10, which contains the original active ingredient derived from Cuban sugar cane wax.
Years of clinical data and peer-reviewed studies associated with the institute’s research have consistently shown that this original policosanol supports the quality and functionality of HDL.
