Does the “GPT” in ChatGPT stand for “great personal trainer?” It might be for Seattle-based tech expert Greg Mushen, who lost 26 lbs following ChatGPT’s AI-generated exercise routine. He told Insider he hated running, but he now runs six days weekly and looks forward to his workouts.

Most people know ChatGPT can create nearly any text you want, such as jokes, poems, and research papers. Yet, many don’t realize the AI chatbot’s unlikely applications. Case in point, Mushen’s ChatGPT workout enabled him to become healthier with the power of artificial intelligence.

However, the AI recommendations initially perplexed him because they involved small, simple steps. The ChatGPT exercise plan’s first day only required Mushen to put his shoes next to the front door.

He only ran three days into the program, but he only did for a few minutes. Contrary to popular belief, the ChatGPT workout was valid, said exercise physiologist and “Pliability for Runners” author Joseph McConkey.

He told Insider the AI chatbot’s suggestions were ideal for beginners. Its gradual approach motivated first-timers with small victories and helped them avoid injuries.

McConkey said, “The biggest mistake is always too much, too soon, whether it’s too much at a time, too frequently, or too fast.” The fitness expert stated the best way to start and maintain a workout routine is to take incremental steps.

Surprisingly, McConkey supported the ChatGPT workout’s suggestion to put shoes in front of your door on your first day. He explained small wins motivate others to pursue their fitness goals.

“We’re all fighting through days that it’s harder to get out, so you want to use any sort of pre-planning, visualization, or related habit to get you out the door,” McConkey noted.

Greg Mushen proves the effectiveness of these incremental successes. “Even doing that small task, I was bought in,” the tech pro said. “It was just so easy that when I was done, I remember feeling accomplished.”

McConkey said starting a running routine does not require getting exhausted. Contrary to popular belief, he explained exhaustion is counterproductive.

What if you want more than cardiovascular exercises only? Perhaps you’d like a routine that trains your whole body instead of focusing on your legs.

Fortunately, the fitness news website, Human Fit Project, shared “The 6-Week ChatGPT Workout Plan to Get Strong and Lean.” Its website says the routine is a “well-rounded approach to fitness.”

It includes resistance training and cardiovascular exercise for maximum effectiveness and efficiency. Alternatively, you can create one yourself.

You could create a ChatGPT account to ask it to create a workout routine. Moreover, you could specify the conditions it must follow. For example, ask for diabetic-friendly routines if you have blood sugar problems.
