This pun-loving Pinoy shirt brand is bringing back its music, art, advocacy-driven fair this August

preview

Linya-Linya, the popular statement shirt brand known for its witty puns and celebration of Filipino talent, is bringing back its Linya-Linya Land this August with popular names in music, comedy, and art. Linya-Linya Land 2023 marks its comeback with a lineup of performers that include Ebe Dancel, Johnoy Danao, Nica Del Rosario, Cheats, Autotelic, and DJ Ayel alongside standup comedians Victor Anastacio, Nonong Ballinan, GB Labrador, James Caraan, and Jeleen Cubillas.

Completing these headliners are some of the most acclaimed and established talents in Philippine art: Manix Abrera, Rob Cham, and Pol Medina Jr., whose works will be exhibited at the ‘art’ market. Meanwhile, muralists/illustrators Panch Alvarez and AG Saño, will be bringing unique art experiences to life.

“This year’s Linya-Linya Land will be bigger and better, and hopefully, more meaningful,” says Linya-Linya founder Ali Sangalang. “Gaya ng lagi, nandito ang Linya-Linya para makatulong magbigay ng espasyo at entablado para sa Pinoy artists at creators na ma-express at maipamalas ang talents nila sa community at sa mundo.”

This time around, Linya-Linya Land celebrates the power of collaborations in supporting community-wide initiatives.

As Sangalang sums it up, “Mahirap ang buhay lately, maraming stressed at pagod sa mga nangyayari, pero gaya ng lagi naming sinasabi: May dahilan laging ngumiti, tumawa, tumindig, lumaban, at magpatuloy. In partnership with Gabi Na Naman Productions, we’ll gather the best Filipino musicians, comedians, and artists– all the collaborators of Linya-Linya over the years– hindi lang para makapagpasaya, pero para makapagtulak din mga makabuluhang adbokasiya.”

Sangalang adds: “We’ll have a ‘Tulong-Tulong’ (Linya-Linya’s advocacy program) booth at the venue, and we’ll have two of our advocacy partners there— AHA! Learning Center and Angat Buhay Foundation. We’ll provide a space where they can set-up, and connect/communicate with the Linya-Linya community. There, the audience can learn more about their programs; they can sign up as volunteers. [The org] will provide QR codes where people can donate. We’ll also provide free tickets for the nanays and students of AHA, and the staff of Angat Buhay.”

Featured visual artists Saño and Alvarez are planning to do live art-making using messages like, say,  AHA’s “Tayo ang Pagbabagong Ating Hinihintay.” The results will be auctioned during the event and the proceeds will go to the partner organization.

Aside from performances on the main stage, Linya-Linya Land 2023 offers a dedicated space for arts and crafts, side activities, fair-themed games, and lifestyle/wellness booths aimed at catering to the brand’s growing multi-generational demographic. To add further excitement and fun, aspiring artists in music, spoken-word poetry, comedy, and other performance art forms will be given a chance to showcase their talent through an open-mic session.

Linya-Linya Land 2023 will be happening on August 26, 2023 (Saturday) at 123 Block in Mandaluyong City, from 3 pm onwards. Tickets are available online at PHP 900 for Early Bird Regular (includes raffle stub and general admission ticket) and PHP 1,700 for Early Bird VIP (includes a general admission ticket, raffle stub, swag bag, and limited-edition poster).
