STEPS has launched a free, accredited SIT20322 Certificate II in Hospitality course in Casuarina to help Darwin jobseekers enter the Top End’s growing hospitality and tourism sectors.

Delivered through the Australian Government-funded Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, the course equips eligible participants with practical, job-ready skills aligned to local industry needs.

STEPS CEO Cassie Stanley said the course was launched in response to steady demand for trained hospitality staff across Darwin, following the successful launch of the course on the Sunshine Coast earlier this year.

“Darwin’s hospitality industry plays a major role in our local economy, particularly with the Top End becoming a popular tourism destination,” Ms Stanley said.

“We’re seeing ongoing demand for reliable, trained hospitality staff. This course gives participants the skills and confidence they need to step into an entry-level role and hit the ground running.”

STEPS hospitality participants develop practical skills in customer service, workplace health and safety, food hygiene, and teamwork, preparing them to work efficiently and effectively across a range of hospitality settings.

Cassie Stanley said the course also focuses on building confidence and professionalism, and ensuring graduates understand employer expectations.

“We work closely with our participants to help them gain the communication skills, reliability and workplace mindset that employers really value,” Ms Stanley said.

“Our goal at STEPS is to see people not just complete a qualification but move into meaningful employment and feel confident in their abilities to reach their goals, whether professional or personal.”
